Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add an item?

Tap or click the + button in the toolbar or at the bottom of the sidebar. You can scan a barcode with your camera, search by title or artist, or enter details manually.

How do I scan a barcode?

Tap +, then choose Scan Barcode. Point your iPhone or iPad camera at the barcode on the item. Card Catalog enters the identifier and requests any metadata available from its active sources. If no source has a match, you can add or edit the item manually. Barcode scanning requires an iPhone or iPad; it is not available on Mac.

Where is my data stored?

Your library is stored on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I sync across devices?

Card Catalog uses iCloud to sync your library automatically. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID on all your devices and that iCloud Drive is enabled in Settings (iPhone/iPad) or System Settings (Mac).

How do I import from Booxter or Delicious Library?

Go to Settings → Data Management → Import / Export. Card Catalog can import from Booxter (.bxbooklib bundles), Delicious Library CSV exports, Goodreads CSV, LibraryThing CSV, and CLZ CSV.

How do I export my library?

Go to Settings → Data Management → Import / Export and choose Export. You can export to CSV (for use in spreadsheets) or HTML (for printing or sharing).

How do I create a Smart List?

Click or tap the + button next to My Lists in the sidebar, then choose Smart List. Set your filter rules — you can filter by any of 27 fields including title, author, year, rating, condition, read status, page count, and more — and the list will update automatically as your library changes.

A barcode scan returned the wrong item. What should I do?

You can edit any field manually after a scan. Select the item, tap or click Edit, and correct the information. You can also use Refresh Metadata to try fetching the data again, or clear the cover image and search for a replacement.

How does pricing work?

Card Catalog is free to download. You can catalog up to 50 items for free with no time limit. When your collection grows beyond 50 items, a one-time $29.99 Lifetime Unlock gives you unlimited items on all your devices, forever. There are no subscriptions or recurring fees.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Open Card Catalog, tap the Unlock Lifetime Access button in the paywall, then tap Restore Purchases. As long as you are signed into the same Apple ID you used to make the original purchase, it will be restored at no charge.

Why are Amazon links marked as paid links?

Card Catalog uses Martin Creative Studios' Amazon Associate tag; it does not accept a user-supplied tag. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This does not change the price you pay. You can choose your preferred regional Amazon store in Settings → Amazon.
